Present Status

Mike Turner CEng CITP MBCS, Software Engineer

While I am not at present actively seeking work, I am always interested in discussing suitable development roles. My up-to-date CV can be downloaded in MS Word format here.

Note that I have been a self-employed contractor for more than 30 years, for the last 20 of which I have been operating as a one-man software house, and I normally carry out my project duties in my own dedicated software development laboratory. I have very extensive facilities and a strong track record in this mode of working, as evidenced below. Arrangements for visits to client sites would normally be made at the start of a project, to 'come on board', and at the end, if necessary to install deliverables.

I have produced a discussion document "Why Not Work From Home" which analyses my business style in relation to the needs of my customers, and which carries two illustrated examples of projects, plus historical material and references which support my contention that my service is superior to that of any ordinary 'body-shop' contractor, however skilled they might be.

I would also refer interested parties to two further historical documents; the order from Direct UK dated 12th Dec 1983 under which I created - at home - the first cut of what became the RITA award-winning 'PC Automator' software robot; and the purchase order from IMP Ltd. dated 1 June 1991 under which I developed the 'pSOS Programmer's Development Station' for their customer Motorola, again at my own premises.

The projects referenced in these documents, and many more, were completed very successfully in this off-site, remote-working manner.
